Since 2021, Levi’s has proudly teamed up with Clothes to Good to drive significant change in South Africa. This impactful partnership aims not only to minimize landfill waste but also to create sustainable job opportunities, particularly empowering women across the country. Through textile recycling and upcycling efforts, this initiative fosters a circular economy that transforms unwanted denim into meaningful opportunities.
As highlighted in Levi’s Upcycle Your Jeans campaign, recycling and repurposing denim has become a core mission. According to their blog, worn-out jeans that would have previously been discarded are now upcycled into various products, including educational resources and mobility aids for children with disabilities. These efforts not only reduce environmental impact but also promote social good through innovative recycling solutions.
Now, Levi’s and Clothes to Good are extending a special invitation for you to participate in their Jeans Drive initiative. You’re invited to experience this movement firsthand by visiting any of the participating Levi’s stores, where you can donate your gently used jeans—regardless of the brand. In return, you’ll receive a 20% discount on your next pair of Levi’s!
Participating stores include:
Cape Town: V&A Waterfront, Century City, Cavendish, Tyger Valley.
Johannesburg & Pretoria: Sandton, Rosebank, Eastgate, Cresta, Clearwater, Fourways, Menlyn, Mall of Africa, Centurion.
Polokwane: Mall of the North.
Durban: Gateway, Pavilion.
Mpumalanga: I'langa.
This initiative goes beyond decluttering your closet—it directly contributes to reducing the environmental impact by keeping unwanted jeans out of landfills. What makes this initiative even more special is how each pair of donated jeans helps support Clothes to Good in its mission to create jobs for marginalized communities. The organization employs people to upcycle denim and turn it into innovative products, while also empowering women through employment opportunities that drive economic growth.
According to Levi’s blog post, through their collaboration with Clothes to Good, donated jeans are transformed into various items, from affordable fashion to essential resources like tactile books for visually impaired children. This kind of thoughtful recycling elevates what could have been waste into a product that enriches lives.
So, dig through your wardrobe, find those pre-loved jeans, and join us in this meaningful mission to do good while looking great.
